Before you jump in, please check the quickstart section! It’s packed with insights on what features you can access. For instance, to adjust the content height or modify CSS of a remote iframe, you MUST add a line of JavaScript to the remote page! And remember, you can’t include HTTP pages in HTTPS pages! Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS is essential to pinpoint elements on your webpage.
When working within the same domain, or if you can access the external workaround, you can easily adjust the iframe height. Dynamic content changes in the iframe are detected, and even auto height for hidden elements is supported.
Not on the same domain? No problem! You can still display a segment of a remote iframe. With our built-in area selector, simply click to choose the area you want to show. You can even conceal specific parts of the other page. Zoom functionality is also available for seamless integration!

To easily include a webpage, let’s cover a few essentials:
- Make sure your page is permissible for inclusion:

- Can you edit the page you wish to include?
You probably fall into one of these scenarios:
- Cannot include the iframe: The content owner disallows it.
- Can include the iframe but are on a different domain: Refer to the feature comparison chart and the features overview. To set the height/width or modify CSS, you must edit the remote iframe page and add one line of JavaScript for the workaround.
- Can include the iframe and are on the same domain: You can access all the plugin features.

To insert a simple iframe, navigate to the administration and follow the basic settings tab instructions. Use a basic shortcode or customize the settings directly in your shortcode. Don’t forget to check the FAQ and explore the free and pro examples!
If you’re an advanced user with your own server, consider setting up a reverse proxy if the iframe is on a different domain and bypasses the external workaround. Check out this blog for details.

Installation
- Use the default WordPress plugin installer or upload the ‘advanced-iframe’ folder from the zip file to the ‘/wp-content/plugins’ directory. Ensure the file advanced-iframe.php is in the directory /wp-content/plugins/advanced-iframe.
- Activate the plugin via the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
- Insert ‘[advanced_iframe]’ into your posts or pages. The security key can be found in Settings -> Advanced iFrame Pro.
Upgrade/Update
With WordPress 5.5, simply download the new version and install it. WordPress will recognize the installation and prompt you to update. Just hit ‘Yes’ and you’re done! All settings remain safe in the database—no data loss here! Remember to save your advanced iframe settings once to update the ai_external.js to the latest version!
Download the zip from CodeCanyon, overwriting previous files via FTP, or uninstall the plugin (whether free or pro) and reinstall the new version. All settings are stored in the database so nothing is lost. If you notice any empty radio elements post-update, just select the one you want and save again.
Don’t forget to save the advanced iframe settings once to ensure the ai_external.js is updated! For production systems, consider adding a version counter to the ai_external.js to avoid caching if you use the external workaround e.g.: …/ai_external.js?version=6
